A Pacesetter is someone who...

1.  uses  intuition, ingenuity, and innovation to promote the mission of UCI and/or women;

2.  fosters collegiality and breaks down barriers between various factions of women at UCI;

Do you know such a woman whom you would like to recognize in a very tangible way?

The Pacesetter Award

It's not often that we are privileged to work with someone whom we admire and want to emulate.  Yet there is the occasional outstanding person who serves as a teacher, mentor, and role model for others, whose presence in the workplace noticeably benefits those who come in contact with her.

The Pacesetter Award was established in 1987 and is awarded annually by A&PW  with the intent of encouraging and supporting UCI women by calling attention to, and rewarding, their efforts to improve our university and the status of women.  Each year the recipient is honored at a special luncheon and presented with a keepsake award and a lifetime membership in A&PW.

Nominations

To qualify, nominees may exhibit some or all of the characteristics listed in the sidebar.  Neither the nominee nor the nominators are required to be A&PW members.

Nomination packets should include a nomination letter, outlining the nominee's accomplishments, and any additional supporting materials, such as:

  • résumé or vitae
  • newpaper articles
  • letters of support
  • any additional materials that provide relevant information

The award committee reviews the nomination packets and makes the final selection.  The award is presented at the annual A&PW luncheon.  The recipient is notified prior to the luncheon.
