About Us

Have you ever read a good book and wanted to discuss your thoughts with someone?  A good discussible book will offer a topic that resonates, stimulates, provokes, or comforts.

Anteater Readers selects books once or twice a year.  We look for readings that have literary merit, are readily available through bookstores and libraries, and are of interest to the group.  Each year we attempt to choose at least one nonfiction work and at least one book considered to be a classic by scholars.  We often pick works by newer writers, and we have read many books written by authors from the UCI Writing Program.  For lists of our current and past book selections, use the links in the sidebar.

Each month we discuss a pre-selected book in a lively and informative manner.  The discussion leader is the person who recommended the book.  Meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month from 12 - 1 p.m., in Student Services II, Room 1002.  Please join us for a "brown bag" literary discussion; we're always pleased to welcome new members.  If you need more information before visiting the group, or would like your name on our email list, contact the Anteater Readers Chair, Sheila Fortman-Craun.
