Tanya Zabalegui | Chair
Tanya Zabalegui is the Director of the Anteater leadership Academy. Her expertise is in business development, student affairs and marketing professional. Tanya has more than 20 years of experience in the international education, entrepreneurial and technology industries. In the past two decades, Tanya has worked as Associate Director for Engineering Sciences, and IT at the University of California, Irvine, Division of Continuing Education and the Director of Programs for OCTANe@UCI. She also worked at UCLA Hispanic Outreach, UCLA’s Jules Eye Institute, and at UCLA American Language Center. Tanya has managed on-line affiliate marketing for Proflowers.com, trade shows for Digirad, award ceremonies for UCSD CONNECT and UCSD Athena. She has dabbled in entrepreneurship with her own business – importing handmade glass art from Argentina. She was born in Colombia, but travels frequently to Argentina to visit her husband’s family. She is fully bilingual, Spanish-English.
Tiffany Le | Secretary
Tiffany graduated in 2015 from UCI with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in International Studies. Currently, in her role as a Student Affairs Specialist at UCI Summer Session, she works closely with incoming freshman students who participate in the early start program, Freshman Edge. Her passion for youth empowerment stems from her previous work with various youth leadership programs and her involvements at UCI. As an undergraduate, she served as a Resident Advisor and a New Student Orientation Coordinator, working to create more welcoming and inclusive spaces for incoming students at UCI. In addition to her involvements on the UCI campus, she gained experience abroad, studying in Cyprus and the Netherlands. She enjoys serving as a Board Member for A&PW of UCI, as it has given her more opportunities to meet empowering and inspiring women in the community.
Rachel Christensen | Finance Chair
Rachel has worked in higher education for eight years, taking on roles such as instructor recruitment, program development, employer relations and career counselor. Currently, Rachel is working with the Field Study Program in the School of Social Ecology. She has also worked and counseled in the K-12 system and actively volunteers for a non-profit organization where she fulfills her strong passion for working with educators, orphans and refugees in Southeast Asia by providing training and programming. She earned her B.A. in Sociology at UC Irvine and an M.A.Ed with an emphasis in Educational Counseling from Azusa Pacific University. In addition, Rachel is a new mother, paints and records music with her husband on their spare time.
Alyssa Sanchez | Special Events Chair
Alyssa Sanchez has over 15 years of experience in event management, alumni relations, and community outreach. She first started at UCI in the Francisco J. Ayala School of Biological Sciences where she was responsible for managing a wide variety of events including the Allergan Lecture Series in Modern Biology, the Dean’s Distinguished Lecture Series, and the Bio Sci Mentor Program. She also worked at the National Academy of Sciences where she planned conferences at the Beckman Center in Irvine and the NAS building in Washington, D.C. Alyssa is currently the Events Coordinator and Outreach Specialist in the UCI Office of Special Events and Protocol where she manages the Office of the Provost – Office of Academic Planning sponsored interschool Academic Initiatives events and conferences. An alumna of UCI, Alyssa finds it incredibly rewarding to be a part of the Anteater family.
